พบมากในอายุ 35 – 50 ปี เสียชีวิตเฉลี่ย 7 คนต่อวันหรือปีละประมาณ 3,000 คน และเป็นสาเหตุการเสียชีวิตอันดับ 3 ของหญิงทั่วโลก....
วันที่ 4 ส.ค. นายวิทยา แก้วภราดัย รมว.สาธารณสุข กล่าวภายหลังเป็นประธานเปิดมหกรรมตรวจมะเร็งปากมดลูก 10,000 ราย ถวายสมเด็จพระบรมราชินีนาถฯ เนื่องในวโรกาสวันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา 12 สิงหาคม 2552 ว่า กระทรวงสาธารณสุข มีนโยบายให้ทุกจังหวัดตรวจค้นหามะเร็งปากมดลูก ในผู้หญิงที่มีอายุ 35 ปีขึ้นไป เพื่อให้การรักษาก่อนที่เซลล์มะเร็งจะลุกลามไปอวัยวะอื่น ซึ่งจะสามารถลดอัตราการป่วยและเสียชีวิตได้ผลดีที่สุด เนื่องจากโรคมะเร็งปากมดลูกเป็นมะเร็งที่พบมากเป็นอันดับ 1 ในหญิงไทย พบมากในอายุ 35 – 50 ปี เป็นสาเหตุทำให้เสียชีวิตเฉลี่ย 7 คนต่อวันหรือปีละประมาณ 3,000 คน และเป็นสาเหตุการเสียชีวิตอันดับ 3 ของหญิงทั่วโลก
ด้านนพ.ปราชญ์ บุณยวงศ์วิโรจน์ ปลัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข กล่าวว่า ในการตรวจคัดกรองมะเร็งปากมดลูก ทำได้ 2 วิธีคือ วิธีแป็บสเมียร์ ซึ่งเป็นการขูดเนื้อเยื่อบริเวณปากมดลูก ตรวจดูความผิดปกติของเซลล์ รู้ผลในเวลา 1 เดือน และตรวจด้วยวิธีที่เรียกว่าวีไอเอ (VIA : Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) พยาบาลวิชาชีพสามารถทำได้ โดยใช้กรดน้ำส้มสายชู 3-5 เปอร์เซ็นต์ ป้ายที่บริเวณปากมดลูก แล้วทิ้งไว้ 1 นาที เพื่อดูความผิดปกติของปากมดลูกในระยะก่อนที่จะเป็นมะเร็ง วิธีนี้ทำได้ง่าย รู้ผลเร็ว หากพบเนื้อเยื่อที่ปากมดลูกเป็นฝ้าสีขาว แสดงว่าผิดปกติ หากทิ้งไว้อาจกลายเป็นมะเร็ง ก็จะทำการรักษารอยฝ้าด้วยการจี้เย็นทันที ทำให้เซลล์ที่ผิดปกติตายและหลุดลอกออกไปหมด ตัดวงจรไม่ให้เซลล์พัฒนาเป็นเซลล์มะเร็ง การตรวจค้นหาด้วยวีธีวีไอเอและรักษาด้วยการจี้เย็นทันที ช่วยลดอัตราการเสียชีวิตลงได้ถึงร้อยละ 35 มีค่าใช้จ่ายน้อย ความคุ้มทุนสูง ได้มอบให้กรมอนามัยเร่งอบรมพยาบาลวิชาชีพ สามารถตรวจมะเร็งปากมดลูกด้วยวิธีวีไอเอในหญิงอายุ 30 – 45 ปีให้ครอบคลุมทุกจังหวัด.
